Christmas with the Krafts

Mom's side of the family (the Krafts) gets together for Christmas Eve every year. This year it was at our house. I think all totalled, we had 33 people here. Our house was bursting at the seams, which made me want to burst with joy.

I LOVE family get togethers. I just wish they were all day affairs like they used to be when I was a kid...oh well. Times are a changing.

Regardless of the hours spent, it was a great day, complete with a visit from Santa.

After everyone left, we went to church to watch Jack and Dylan in the play. They both did well and Dylan nailed his speaking parts.

And then onto milk and cookies for Santa and bedtime for sleepy babies...and Papas and kittens.

Christmas with the Coles

We always spend the weekend before Christmas in Chardon for Christmas with the Coles. And this year, we had the added fun of a surprise 50th anniversary party for Tom and Bobbie!

Snowball Pight

Sam can't say "f's" yet. All of his "f's" come out sounding like "p's".

Feet is peet.

Fire truck is pire truck.

And snowball fight is snowball pight.

He became obsessed with the idea of the snowball pight thanks to one of his favorite holiday movies, Elf. Anyone who's seen it knows the snowball scene.

Sam recreates it inside by balling up his socks and yelling "SNOWBALL PIGHT"! Then comes the barrage of (sock)snowballs.

But this day was warmer, so we headed out for a real snowball pight. And he couldn't have been happier.

Lena, on the other hand, couldn't put her arms down (similar to the youngest kid from one of my favorite Christmas movies) and, consequently, kept falling and getting wet. Ten minutes outside and she was ready to go in for lunch.

Which cheered her up! But what kid doesn't love Chef Boyardee?

Sam saw how much fun Lena was having smearing lunch all over her face that he decided to (purposefully) smear his face, too.

It was a perfect day.

Christmas Vacation in Newcomerstown

I took the week before Christmas off and Sam, Lena and I spent a few days visiting my parents. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our stay.

Coloring pictures with Grammy...notice Sam's giant blue glasses. He left them on the whole time.

Playing the airplane flying game with Papa. They were both completely enthralled with it and couldn't get enough. Probably killed Dad's knees, but I think he kind of liked it, too.

Lena with heavy eyes. She eventually fell asleep during lunch, but I didn't get a good shot of that.

Making Christmas candy with Grammy. I think they ate more M&M's than they contributed to the mix.

One of my favorite things in the world is hanging out with my parents - no plans, no events - just spending some normal downtime with them. Thanks for having us, Mom and Dad.
